Everywhere you look nowadays you will see people with their heads down texting while walking or driving; as a result, people rely more on their peripheral vision to avoid colliding into others.
When I think of this I’m reminded of ostriches because they bury their head underground to sleep yet they are still in danger because their body is exposed to the outside elements.
Technology has evolved to a point that we are constantly stimulated with information. As leaders, our challenge is to get people to focus on one activity at a time. For the opening statement, that’s just simply walking or driving.
When I hear people say, “I’m an excellent multi-tasker”. One would imply that this individual could handle many activities at once; however, we all know that it’s hard to focus when our head is in 15 different places.
